Edmentum Attendance Information for Families 9.30.20

Why Take Attendance? Continuing to monitor attendance is one of the most important ways schools can account for student engagement and wellbeing during a pandemic across any instructional model. There is a strong relationship between attendance and student achievement. Daily attendance is required for all students in Oregon public school programs, including virtual programs, whether sponsored by a local school district or a virtual charter school. For full-time Edmentum students, participation/daily progress and/or interaction with an E-learning team member will be monitored for Oregon Department of Education attendance requirements.
Attendance will be counted for any combination of the following:
Participation/Daily Progress: Interaction w/E-Learning Team Member:
• ‘Time on Task’ completing coursework (not just time logged in) via the Edmentum program (see Minimum Time Requirements below for weekly target)
• Participating in a live tutoring or testing session led by E-learning team member
• 2-way communication between the student (or parent/guardian) and an Elearning team member via chat, text message, email, phone call, etc. (time logged by E-learning team member)
MINIMUM TIME REQUIREMENT S
The following guidelines determine if students have met regular attendance requirements:
Daily Target for Time on Task/Interaction:
• Grades K-3 = 2 hours 20 minutes
• Grades 4-8 = 2 hours 30 minutes
• Grades 9-12 = 2 hours 50 minutes
Weekly Requirement (example for a 5-day week;
will be less if not a full week of school):
• Grades K-3 = 11 hours 40 minutes
• Grades 4-8 = 12 hours 30 minutes
• Grades 9-12 = 14 hours 10 minutes
ATTENDANCE NOTIFICAT IONS
On a weekly basis (typically the first school day of the week) families will be notified if a student did not make adequate progress for regular attendance the previous week. This notification will come from your resident school either by Remind/Text Message, an automated OneCall, an email, or a personal contact. Please notify the attendance secretary at your student’s resident school if you have attendance questions.
Absent? We want to hear from you! Please contact your resident school office to inform them of the reason for your absence.
