Crestview Heights School Starts SMART Reading Program, Seeks Volunteers

Posted on September 9, 2019

Crestview Heights Elementary School in Waldport is starting a student-focused reading program and needs volunteers from the community to help get it going.

The SMART – Start Making a Reader Today – program pairs adult volunteers one-on-one with elementary school students to read for 30 minutes twice a week. Every child in the program also gets two free books a month to take home. SMART is an Oregon nonprofit and has been working in schools since 1992.

The program at Crestview will run one hour a week, 9:35-10:40 a.m. Tuesdays with kindergarten students. To volunteer, contact Sally Marie at 541-556-5280 or sallysuzanne@comcast.net, or for more information go to www.getSMARToregon.org
