Dear Fellow Friends & Families of Crestview Heights School,

We are sending out our thoughts surrounding the events at Crestview Heights School (CVH) last week. It is our understanding that a CO detector started either chirping or alarming during the late morning, and that there may have been a second alarm that was buzzing. As soon as we found out about the incident a representative from our group was able to be present at the school for the investigation. Our representative helped in the search to locate a potential second alarm, though one was never found. Our understanding is that the CO detector that did alert is one that was brought in by a parent and was sitting on a shelf in the classroom. We were given the opportunity to inspect the CO detector that alerted at our meeting that was held at CVH on May 7, 2019.  We wish to be clear that our last letter dated May 6, 2019 was not meant to convey that we were no longer investigating the issues surrounding carbon monoxide, only that we had learned of other environmental factors that should be looked into as well, and that we feel G2 Consultants are a good candidate for conducting the required tests. We are still working with Lincoln County School District (LCSD) to implement a plan and we are happy to be meeting with  the Superintendent today to move forward.  Additionally, we hope that you understand that we are in no way experts on air quality or toxins of any kind. We are simply a group of concerned parents that have come together to work with LCSD and parents of the children in our community to find a solution. Our intention with sending out weekly letters is to keep you informed of what information we have at that time. This information may include results from research we conduct and discuss as a group, information shared with us from CVH or LCSD, and even our thoughts on the matter. The information may change  as we continue research and investigating until the issue of air quality at CVH is resolved. We hope that you find this information useful. Our ultimate goal is to help our community by sharing information so that we all may come together to find a solution for our children. We encourage you to attend the community meeting about health safety being held at Seashore Family Literacy Center tomorrow, Tuesday May 14 at 5pm with dinner being served shortly after. We also encourage you to attend the regularly schedule LCSD Board meeting being held at Crestview Heights tomorrow, May 14 at 7pm. If you have any questions, comments, or information to share please email us at cvhparentgroup@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

CVH Parent Group
